December 7 Birthday
December 7, 1941: The Imperial Japanese Navy attacked the US Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. 2,403 Americans were killed. The attack was intended to neutralize the US Pacific Fleet so Japan could expand into Southeast Asia. It did the opposite — it brought the United States fully into World War II. The attack happened on a Sunday morning. The aircraft carriers were at sea and survived. Franklin Roosevelt called it "a date which will live in infamy." Within days, the US was at war with Japan, Germany, and Italy. People born on December 7 fall under the zodiac sign of Sagittarius. The birthstone is Tanzanite and the birth flower is Holly.
