September 27 Birthday
On September 27, 1905, Albert Einstein published his paper "Does the Inertia of a Body Depend Upon Its Energy Content?" in the journal Annalen der Physik. The paper contained the equation E=mc², which states that energy and mass are interchangeable. A small amount of mass contains an enormous amount of energy — one gram of matter is equivalent to the energy of 15,000 tons of TNT. This equation would explain how the Sun burns for billions of years and how nuclear weapons work. Einstein did not work on the Manhattan Project — he was denied a security clearance as a pacifist. The Warren Commission report was released on September 27, 1964, concluding that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in assassinating President Kennedy and that there was no conspiracy. The 888-page report was based on twenty-six volumes of evidence. It has been criticized for contradictions, omissions, and selective use of evidence. A 1979 House committee concluded that Kennedy was "probably" killed as a result of a conspiracy, but did not identify a specific one. Polls consistently show that a majority of Americans do not believe the official version. People born on September 27 fall under the zodiac sign of Libra. The birthstone is Sapphire and the birth flower is Aster.
